Northwest Arkansas National Airport (IATA: XNA, FAA LID: XNA, ICAO: KXNA) is located in Northwest Arkansas in Highfill, Arkansas, United States.

The airport is 15 nautical miles (28 km; 17 mi) northwest of Fayetteville and ten nautical miles (19 km; 12 mi) northwest of Springdale.

It has daily nonstop flights to 23 essential destinations, including Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Minneapolis - St. Paul, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

History of Northwest Arkansas National Airport

XNA opened in November 1998. It took Drake Field's place as the primary airport for regularly scheduled airline passenger flights.

Drake Field was insufficient to handle the increasing volume of traffic the burgeoning area was generating by the early 1990s.

In 2007, airport officials announced the development of a new concourse, estimated to cost between $20 million and $25 million. The airport has raised its airplane parking slots from twelve to twenty because of the new facility located east of the upper concourse. It took more than three years to complete the new facility.

In 2010, the airport finished expanding its ticket counters. The $21 million addition of the airport's upper-level concourse, which features the first moving walkway in the state, is now complete.

Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport was the previous name of the airport. In December 2019, it changed its name to Northwest Arkansas National Airport.

It was revealed on September 23, 2021, that board members had begun the process of constructing a new, second concourse.
